International Red Cross and Red Crescent Delegations Visit Nablus city and Burqa Village

Nablus – 11/11/2025: Today, international delegations from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, accompanied by the PRCS President Dr. Younis Al-Khatib, Director General Khaled Abu Ghosh, and several PRCS staff members, visited Nablus city and Burqa village in the northern Westbank. The visit was part of the humanitarian partnership meeting aimed at enhancing understanding of the difficult humanitarian situation faced by local communities due to repeated settler attacks and the practices of the Israeli occupation forces.

The delegations began their visit at the PRCS first aid point in Burqa, met with volunteers and EMS teams to learn about the emergency and community services provided by PRCS teams to village residents under challenging and emergency conditions. Discussions focused on PRCS teams’ response to injuries resulting from recurrent settler attacks and the obstacles imposed by the Israeli occupation forces, which include direct assaults on medical teams and the prevention of their access to the injured.

During their field tour, the delegations explored the overall humanitarian conditions in the area and heard from the residents and field staff about the Israeli practices and measures that violate international humanitarian law, directly affecting civilians’ lives. These include, expansion of settlement activities, burning of homes and property, land and road confiscations for the benefit of settlements, and repeated violations that obstruct the work of EMS teams and hinder their timely access to the injured and patients.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegations went to the Palestine Red Crescent Society branch in Nablus, where they were received by a representative of the branch board Mr. Emad Al Laham and Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas, Mayor Hussam Al-Shakhsheer, and Branch Director Khaled Naser. Governor Daghlas spoke about the difficult living conditions, repeated settler attacks, and the suffering of residents, while Mayor Al-Shakhsheer emphasized the impact of these attacks on the city’s economic life and the importance of the residents’ resilience despite the difficult circumstances.

The governor, the mayor, and local officials expressed their deep appreciation for the efforts of PRCS and its field teams, praising their continuous humanitarian role in providing ambulance and relief services around the clock, despite many challenges. They affirmed that the presence of the PRCS is a key pillar in strengthening citizens’ resilience and alleviating their suffering.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Nablus branch facilities, where the delegations were briefed on the range of services provided, including emergency medical response, community work, rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and the home for the elderly, as well as the branch’s rapid response mechanisms and the challenges it faces.

In this context, the delegations reiterated their deep appreciation for PRCS volunteers and teams, commending their commitment to humanitarian service despite risks and hardships. They emphasized that these efforts embody the universal humanitarian values of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, protecting human life, alleviating suffering, and promoting humanity without discrimination, while reinforcing the resilience of affected communities.
