Well-trained psychosocial support volunteer teams

Psychosocial support volunteer teams comprise men and women from various age groups tasked with providing Psychological First Aid (PFA) during emergencies. They help restore mental well-being and offer social support networks to community members. Their main tasks include:

  • Providing PFA, improving self-belief, building confidence, and restoring a sense of safety, especially among affected individuals;
  • Protecting individuals from further mental harm;
  • Linking people with specialized services and support if needed;
  • Helping reestablish cultural and social customs and traditions;
  • Providing support to colleagues and other service providers during disasters/emergencies;
  • Contributing to the social and mental recovery of communities.

In times of peace, volunteers carry out many other activities under the supervision of program officers.
