Community-Based Health Program

Community-Based First Aid

Community-Based First Aid constitutes part and parcel of interventions at the community level. It plays a major role in building community resilience. First Aid and advanced First Aid training is offered to enable individuals to help their communities during emergencies and to support Emergency Medical Services.

Public Health in Emergencies

Under this program, training is provided to volunteers on issues ranging from communicable diseases, nutrition and reproductive health to Psychological Support during emergencies, First Aid and First Responder-related topics. Volunteers are also provided with emergency supplies and First Aid bags to enable them to respond to urgent health needs in their marginalized communities. Contingency plans are developed to increase emergency preparedness at the branch and chapter levels.

Chronic Diseases

Community-based activities and educational workshops are organized to promote healthy lifestyles and change attitudes in order to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases, mainly diabetes and hypertension.

Reproductive Health

Awareness is raised about sexual and reproductive health in marginalized communities with limited or no access to obstetric and gynecologic care. Special focus is given to topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, health care for pregnant women and after delivery, family planning, gender-based violence, adolescent health and women health concerns.

Home Care

PRCS provides home care services in particular to sick and wounded individuals, the elderly, chronic disease patients and women who have recently given birth. Comprehensive health and psychosocial care is provided with the help of family and community members.

School Health

PRCS promotes healthy behavior and attitudes in schools by enhancing the skills and practices needed by students and faculty to live a healthy life. These include First Aid training, health education and maintaining a healthy school environment.

Mobile Multispecialty Emergency Services

Mobile Multispecialty health services are provided in marginalized and remote areas lacking access to health services. Mobile clinics offer check-ups, antenatal and postnatal care as well as family planning services. Psychosocial specialists and rehabilitation workers also offer a number of specialized services when needed.
