In Celebration of Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS 44th Anniversary: Rafah Volunteers’ Team Wins the five-a-side Football Tournament

(Rafah – 11/1/20123): PRCS Volunteers’ Team won on the 11th of January 2013 the five-a-side football tournament held at the indoor sports hall at PRCS/Khan Younes. The tournament was organized by PRCS/Khan Younes to mark the Society’s 44th anniversary.

Seven teams from PRCS branches and departments in the Gaza Strip took part in this popular tournament attended by department and branch representatives as well as by many cheering fans.

The team from PRCS/Rafah shone from the very beginning of the tournament when it played against Al Quds Hospital team, winning by a score of 3-1. In the semifinals, the team faced fierce competition from Khan Younes volunteers team, nevertheless winning by 3 goals to 2. In the final match, PRCS/Rafah played against Jabalia volunteers team, scoring two goals in the final minutes of the second half-time.

The tournament cup was handed to the winning team by Administrative Board members from PRCS/Khan Younes. Medals were also awarded to all players from the winning team as well as to the runners-up.
