A Workshop on Community-Based Health and First Aid in Practice

(Al Bireh- 27/9/2012): PRCS’ Primary Health Care (PHC) Programme concluded a training workshop on Public Health and First Aid in practice. Twenty Programme’s employees from the West Bank took part in this 4-day workshop which aimed at disseminating experiences gained by a number of staff during a previous workshop held in Amman last June. The workshop also aimed at supporting the adoption of a unified approach towards community-based health programs in all PRCS health centers.


Doctors, program coordinators, social workers, nurses and volunteers from the Programme took part in the workshop which tackled issues including the Community-Based Health First Aid (CBHFA) Manual, basic guidelines, organization of meetings, community mobilization, first aid and prevention of injuries, mobilizing the local population in time of emergency, community assessment and data analysis.


A field visit was organized at the end of the workshop to Karawat Bani Zaid, a Palestinian village, where participants met with the Head of the Local Council as well as with numerous inhabitants. They also went on several home visits in order to determine needs and priorities in the village.
