PRCS President inaugurates new sections at the Al Quds and Al Amal hospitals

(Gaza- 17/10/2011): PRCS President Dr. Younis Al Khatib and PRCS Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh inaugurated a number of new sections at PRCS the Al Quds hospital (Gaza City) and the Al Amal hospital (Khan Younis).

In the Al Quds hospital, the new sections inaugurated include an MRI section, a dialysis section, dental clinics, laboratories and a unit for dissolving kidney stones. Dr. Al Khatib affirmed that the new kidney stones treatment unit at Al Quds hospital aims at turning this hospital into an advanced medical center to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and avoid having them travel abroad for treatment.

Later during the day, an inauguration ceremony took place in the Al Amal hospital, where Al Khatib thanked PRCS partners in general and ANERA in particular for their help in refurbishing and rehabilitating Al Amal hospital over a period of 8 months. He also welcomed the release of around 1027 Palestinian detainees from Israeli jails, underlining at the same time the need to release all Palestinian prisoners and detainees in order to put an end to this humanitarian and national tragedy.

The sections were inaugurated at Al Amal hospital are: EMS station, Reception and Emergency room and specialized clinics. Moreover, the X-ray section, the gastrointestinal endoscopy section, the external pharmacy, medicine warehouses and administrative sections were rehabilitated and restored at Al Amal.

Following the inauguration of the new sections, Al Khatib, Dr. Joudeh and a number of heads of sections and departments toured Al Amal hospital and received a detailed briefing about work progress and future plans.
