Medical devices for the Hospital of Palestine in Cairo

( Cairo, 12-9-2011): The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the Embassy of Japan in Cairo celebrated today the arrival of medical devices donated by the Japanese government. The devices are allocated to the Hospital of Palestine, a PRCS establishment in Cairo.

Were present at the celebration ceremony, Dr Younis Al-Khatib, President of PRCS, Mr Norihiro Okuda, the Japanese Ambassador in Cairo, Mr Barakat Al-Fara, the Palestinian Ambassador, a number of officials from both embassies as well as many staff members of the PRCS branch in Cairo and the Hospital of Palestine.
 

Dr Al-Khatib addressed the gathering, expressing his gratitude for the assistance the Japanese people have provided for the Palestinian people throughout the years. He thanked both the people and the government of Japan for their unwavering support in the sectors of construction and development.
 

Dr Al-Khatib pointed out to the humanitarian services PRCS and the Hospital of Palestine in particular, provides for the Palestinian people in the homeland and the Diaspora.
 

In addition, he considered the Japanese assistance of great importance as it contributes to developing the hospital’s services and the technical and administrative skills of its staff.
 

For his part, Mr Okuda praised the efforts invested by PRCS in providing humanitarian services for the Palestinian people and in healing their wounds where ever they may be. He highlighted that the aid granted for the Hospital of Palestine came in the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
 

Mr Okuda underlined that the aid consisted of high-performance medical devices for sterilization and endoscopy, which would promote sanitary security and improve the quality of medical equipment of the hospital.
 

He also noted that since 1993 Japan has contributed to the economic and human development of the Palestinian people, the total of the Japanese aid amounting to more than a billion and 100 million US dollars, all poured into projects of

infrastructure, education, medical care, good governance and culture.
The Japanese aid granted to the Hospital of Palestine totals roughly 80 thousand US dollars, which were allocated for procuring sterilization, colonoscopy and ureteroscopy devices.
