On the first Friday in Ramadan PRCS provides services to Muslim worshippers on Qalandia checkpoint

(Jerusalem, 08-08-2011) : PRCS continued to provide its services to worshippers on their way to and from Jerusalem through Qalandia checkpoint to the North of Jerusalem. More than 65 PRCS volunteers were deployed on the first Friday in Ramadan near the checkpoint and on roads leading to it in order to facilitate the traffic and provide assistance.

These volunteers were divided into six teams, three within the checkpoint itself and the three others at the two entrances assigned for men and women where they provided emergency services especially to persons suffering from diabetes and hypertension or who felt they were suffocating or being stifled in the large crowd.

PRCS staff and volunteers either treated cases on the field, or transported them in ambulances to hospitals if they needed further care.

As for the three teams present within the checkpoint itself, they provided first aid in certain cases and helped transport sick and elderly worshippers in a special cart through the humanitarian passage created for this reason, getting them to the buses waiting on the other side.
