MoU between PRCS and the Qatar Red Crescent Society

(Al-Bireh, 01-02-2011): PRCS and the Qatar Red Crescent Society signed a strategic MoU to enhance cooperation in the implementation of various projects including in the fields of water, sanitation, wastewater to the benefit of Palestinians in Palestine and the Diaspora.

 

The MoU was signed by Dr. Younis Al Khatib, PRCS President and Dr. Mohamad G.A Al Maadid, Vice President of the Qatari Society’s Board of Directors. The signing ceremony took place in Al Doha and was attended by the Palestinian Ambassador to Qatar, Mr. Mounir Ghannam.

 

The MoU included 14 articles on the type and nature of this partnership, partners’ obligations, the roles of relevant institutions and the basis for project funding after a thorough examination of each project’s features and objectives, inter alia.

 

Speaking at a Press Conference, Dr. Al Maadid spoke about the strong cooperation and partnership between both Societies. “This MoU was preceded by comprehensive and vast cooperation in diverse humanitarian fields both inside and outside Palestine to the benefit of Palestinians. It aims at building more bridges and furthering cooperation between our two national societies which enjoy common principles and goals”, he said.

 

Dr. Al Khatib said that ties with the Qatari Red Crescent are constantly renewed. “We appreciate the continuous and relentless efforts made by the Qatari Society at the service of Palestinians”, he said. Al Khatib also presented a brief overview of PRCS, its role in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as well as achievements made through social projects targeting families and society in general. He also shed light on services provided by Emergency Medical Services in Palestinian towns and villages.

 

Following the ceremony and the exchange of symbolic gifts and plaques, journalists were given the occasion to pose questions on the nature of projects and obstacles facing humanitarian work.
