PRCS concludes a training workshop on safer access

Al-Bireh, (20-9-2010): Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) concluded a training workshop for 25 emergency medical technicians on safer access during emergencies.

The workshop, which is within the framework of the International Humanitarian Law, targeted first aid responders and emergency medical technicians, covered issues of how to operate during armed conflicts, efficient administrative coordination and access to conflict zones via non-biased organizations, such as the ICRC. The objective of this workshop was to safeguard the safety and security of medical teams during armed conflicts avoiding human and material losses.

The two-day workshop took place at the general PRCS headquarters in Al Bireh in which a range of lectures were given on International Humanitarian Law, medical work, the seven pillars of safer access, internal and external communications and networking, preventive procedures and security guidelines.
