Israeli Occupation Forces Arrest A PRCS Emergency Medical Technician At Erez Checkpoint

Gaza-(24/06/2010): Israeli Occupation Forces, stationed at “Erez” checkpoint, arrested the emergency medical technician, Ashraf Al-Khatib, who works for the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in the Gaza Strip.

Ashraf was on his way to the West Bank in order to attend a 4 days ITLS course for Emergency Medical Services in the PRCS headquarters in Al-Bireh.

No reasons were given for arresting Ashraf Al-Khatib; Moreover, the detention center where he is being held is still unknown.

It is worth mentioning that Ashraf was granted a permit by the Israeli authorities, allowing him to travel from Gaza to the West Bank.

Through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), PRCS is closely following the reason and circumstances of Ashraf’s detention.
