Palestine Red Crescent Society/ Primary Health Care department arranged an open day (exchange visit activity) on 10 October 2009 for 800 Safe Motherhood Committee members. The event was arranged in Wadi Al Bazan area in Nablus district.

About 800 women (Safe Motherhood Committee) participated in the activity from 66 cities and villages in the West Bank, including PRCS headquarter project staff, social workers and some of the Primary Health Care staff in the centers.

The activity included speeches from representatives of the committees about their achievements, success and experiences in addition to exchanging experiences among the committees.

The main aim of the event was to share experiences among the 75 committees, to exchange lessons learned, to create a network between the women, to help women travel, move and go out from the isolation and the traditional role they used to do.

Palestinian women are the main target for these activities to improce theirersonality skills, and give them a chance to participate in health trainings and courses to be in touch with their local committee.

The event was funded through a Community Based Development Project which is supported by the German and Finnish Red Cross through EU funding. It targets women in 75 locations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since the beginning of November 2007 and until 30 November 2010. The project contains two components: health education and microprojects. Furthermore, co-funding for the activity was provided by a Community Based Health and First Aid project funded by the Swedish and Norwegian Red Cross. This project targets 6 locations in the West Bank from the beginning of January 2009 until the end of December 2012 and also includes two components: Reproductive health and child care services and community based health and first aid.
