The President of the Italian Red Cross visits PRCS branches in Gaza Strip

The President of the Italian Red Cross, Mr. Francesco Rocca visited on the 29th of July 2009, PRCS branches in Jabalia, Gaza, Deir Al-Balah and Khanyounis. During his visit, Mr. Rocca was acquainted with the mass of destruction in PRCS amenities that resulted from the last Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

Mr. Rocca and the accompanying delegation set off for a tour to inspect destroyed homes in Al-Karm region in the south-east of Jabalia, as well as PRCS branches in Gaza Strip particularly Gaza Branch and Jabalia branch which were massively destroyed. After the tour, Mr. Rocco expressed his deepest astonishment with the destruction that he witnessed.
He also urged to exert all efforts in allowing supplies into the Strip in order to ease the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza Strip which was caused by war and siege.

The delegation was escorted by the coordinator of the Disaster Preparedness Unit at the PRCS, Dr. Khalil Abulfool, EMS director at Gaza Strip, Dr. Bashar Murad, director of the Psychological Health Program at Gaza Strip, Mr. Azmi Al-Astal, and the PR coordinator at Gaza Strip, Ms. Hanan Lathan. During the tour, the delegation was introduced to PRCS services and obstacles ahead of it during and after the war, especially concerning the siege on Gaza Strip and the lack of constructing material that are vital for building and reconstructing what was destroyed by the Israeli occupation.

It is also worth mentioning that the Italian Red Cross has contributed five years ago, in the establishment of the psycho-social health center in Khan Younis. Additionally, it has participated in supporting Psychological Health Program Centers which were lately inaugurated after the war on Gaza.
