PRCS organizes a celebration in Jenin In the framework of "Our World......Your Move

Jenin- On May 31, 2009, PRCS organized a celebration in Jenin, to celebrate the anniversary of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which occurred on May 8th. This event occurred as part of the campaign presented by the International Movement for the Red Cross and Red Crescent titled "Our World…..Your Move", to shed light on the employees and volunteers working towards Humanitarian services.

Majed Abdul Fattah, Cooperation, Communication, and Planning Director, attended the celebration, as well as Husam Rashid, a member of the Administrative Board in the PRCS Branch in Jenin. Leticia Kortow, the Head of ICRC in the Northern West Bank, and a large group of legal figures in the province also participated.

Husam Rashid, in his speech, expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by PRCS volunteers and cadres, who performed their humanitarian services, despite the major difficulties they face with the Israeli Forces targeting Palestinian people, specifically the medical and humanitarian aid crews.

Rashid also reviewed the role of PRCS since it's formation in 1968, and the most important services PRCS had brought forth to the Palestinian people, as well as remembering the fallen martyrs, the first of them being the founder of PRCS, Fathi Arafat.

In turn, Leticia Kortow, remarked that 2009 was an important year as it marked the 150 years anniversary of the Solverino Battle, and the 90 years anniversary since the formation of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, as well as the 60 years anniversary of the four Geneva Conventions agreements.

Kortow also reported that these celebrations, which fall within the International Movements campaign framework "Our World….Your Move", is a chance to shed light on the efforts of millions of volunteers and employees around the world, who provided humanitarian services, pointing out that the International Committee will continue it's support towards the work of PRCS.

Also, during the celebration Kortow presented paragraphs of artistic and meaningful awareness. In addition, a young girl, Lyn Hamarsha, recited a poem, and the community centers' young girls presented a traditional dance. The artist Farid Al Jaba'ee recited inspirational verses. Also, PRCS' Kindergarten girls presented another artistic piece, and a number of Sketch volunteers presented a short play about volunteer work.
