PRCS Emergency status update OR Report (10/5/2023)

  • PRCS Operations Room continues to follow up the context’s developments in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Occupation Forces’ attacks are escalating, targeting a wide number of locations in the Strip mainly through air-strikes, causing high numbers of casualties and human losses. 
  • Since the morning hours, the overall movement of Palestinians is -almost completely- stopped, with closure of commercial centers and shops, and massive traffic at bakery shops. 
  • Universities and schools in the Gaza Strip continued to suspend their regular educational operations and services 
  • The official first meeting of the PRCS Operations Room’s Board was convened, with the presence of both PRCS President and Director General. The meeting addressed the various reports and analyses, assessing PRCS response operations and mechanisms, and producing recommendations for the upcoming phase. In addition, PRCS EMS Response Plan was endorsed. 
  • During the reporting period, the total number of Palestinian casualties due to Israeli attacks has risen to (21) martyrs and (64) injured, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health; including women and children. 

 

Highlights of PRCS Response Operations during the reporting period:  o PRCS Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Teams have dealt with 3 martyr and 24 injuries in northern Gaza, Rafah, and Khan Younis Governorates. 

So far, PRCS has dealt with a total number of 8 martyrs and 31 injured since the beginning of the escalation, transported to the Gaza Strip’s hospitals.

  • PRCS Psychosocial Support (PSS) teams provided PSS First Aid to (192) beneficiaries, with the support of (25) volunteers. 
  • According to official sources, the initial reports of the assessment of the affected households states that the numbers of affected houses have risen as follows: 14 houses were completely destructed, 48 houses partially affected, in addition to a wide number of houses severely affected.  o PRCS Disaster Risk Management Program started the preparations for its Relief operations to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs), where around (15) families in Gaza and Rafah Governorates are identified according to initial reports

PRCS Operations Room keeps close monitoring of the emergency operations and level, and will be activating the operating procedures accordingly.
