EMS Apparatus
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are a key pillar of health services offered by PRCS in the oPt and the diaspora. In 1996, the Society was entrusted by the Palestinian National Authority, by virtue of a presidential decree, with full responsibility for EMS in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Services are provided by professional, highly qualified medics who have received extensive training at the Society’s EMS Institute.
The Society currently operates several main and secondary emergency centers. Designed to minimize response times, the centers cover the entire oPt. Ambulances are regularly modernized and equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices. PRCS offers around-the-clock emergency services via its 101 call number. In Syria and Lebanon, it operates several ambulances, mainly inside refugee camps.
Emergency medical teams are constantly targeted in the line of duty: Between 2000 and 2022, 22 medics and volunteers were killed in the line of duty in the oPt by Israeli occupation forces. Another 7 staff lost their lives since the beginning of the conflict in Syria.
