PRCS Northern Gaza Strip Branch was established on 1 August 1995 to help alleviate the suffering of Governorate residents as well as to fulfill their health, social and psychological needs.
Branch Objectives
1. To strengthen the local community’s cultural, social, humanitarian, health and psychological capacities;
2. To strengthen the local community’s voluntary spirit;
3. To support and develop the role played by Palestinian women so they take part in building the local community in the Governorate;
4. To cooperate with local and international institutions with a view to promoting the Society’s humanitarian mission;
5. To disseminate the principles and goals of both PRCS and the International Movement of Red Cross/Crescent Societies.
Branch Services
The Branch provides various health, social and psychological services through the following Departments:
1. Emergency Medical Services Centre
Established in 1997, this Center provides 24/7 Emergency Health Services to Palestinians. It is run by trained and qualified staff who transport sick Palestinians as well as those wounded during Israeli occupation attacks.
2. Primary Health Care Department
This Department provides Primary Health Services through the PHC clinic, its doctors, nurses, pharmacy and laboratory. This clinic, which covers local health needs, treats around 1800 patients every month. The branch also runs several other specialized clinics as well as Safe Motherhood Committees which train, raise the awareness and educate local community women in various fields, in order to promote the community’s health and social conditions.
3. Psycho social support Department
This Department helps alleviate the psychological and social stress from which suffer community members, especially the victims of Israeli aggressions and blockade. It provides its services to all local community members.
4. Youths and Volunteers Department
This Department is the branch’s main pillar, helping it fulfill its humanitarian mission, achieve its goals, promote voluntary action, train and develop volunteers in various fields and disseminate PRCS and IM principles and goals.
5. Disaster Unit
This Unit aims to mitigate risks, enhance the branch’s capacity to deal with disaster victims, and raise local awareness in this field.
