PRCS Restores The Homes of Three Disadvantaged Families

Al-Bireh, )March 14, 2021( : PRCS has finished restoring the homes of three disadvantaged families in Budrus and Ramallah as part of the Society’s “You Are Not Alone” Campaign supported by the Netherlands Red Cross. The restored homes were  handed over to the families today in the presence of PRCS President Dr. Younis Al Khatib and several of the Society’s staff and volunteers.

Under this Campaign, several houses that are unsafe and not fit for human habitation will be restored. Restoration works include repairing roofs, installing kitchens, bathrooms and electrical wirings, painting, and repairing damaged rooms. A number of contractors are carrying out these works with support from municipalities, local institutions and volunteers.

“The Campaign is aimed at restoring the homes of disadvantaged families as well as of families with a disabled member. We believe that this is part of our responsibility as a humanitarian Society working to safeguard the dignity of Palestinians”, Al Khatib said. “PRCS shall continue to provide humanitarian, social and health services, mainly in marginalised and underprivileged villages and in areas close to the Wall of Separation”, he added.

Abdel Nasser Marrar, Chair of the Budrus Village Council, lauded the efforts made by PRCS in Budrus, a marginalized village which lacks key health and social services.

Beneficiaries also praised the Campaign. Many of them were living in substandard homes lacking sanitation services, bathrooms for disabled persons, and sometimes even doors, windows and kitchens. Several of these homes were also prone to flooding.

In all, seven homes (55 inhabitants) in Ramallah, Budrus, Anabta, Qalqilia and Bethlehem will be restored by the end of March under this Campaign which promotes solidarity and volunteerism with a view to building the resilience of marginalized communities.
