PRCS Offers Covid-19 Training for Community Awareness Committees

Al-Bireh, October 14, 2020 – PRCS branch in Halhoul (Hebron Governorate) hosted on October 14th a training course aimed at raising community awareness about COVID-19 with the participation of volunteers from the branch’s Community Awareness Committees (CACs). The course is part of a series of educational programs and awareness-raising activities held in cooperation with the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Directorate of the European Commission (ECHO). It provided rehabilitation and training in line with the Community-Based Health and First Aid (CBHFA) approach with a view to promoting the safety, mental health and social wellbeing of vulnerable groups in Palestine. It also aimed at building the skills and capacities of CACs to enable them to assess community needs and carry out appropriate interventions to control the spread of the pandemic.

Throughout the month of October, five training courses will target 29 CACs in the central and southern West Bank with the participation of around 100 volunteers from 25 areas. 29 Community Needs Assessments shall be developed in order to form the basis of future CAC plans and activities. Training activities will focus on EMS, Primary Health Care, communications and community awareness, community work, psychosocial support, addressing stigma associated with COVID-19 and fighting rumors about the disease.
