(Al-Bireh – 16/4/2020): A delegation from the Palestinian Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MTIT) chaired by Minister Ishaq Sadr visited PRCS today. The visit aimed at discussing means to further cooperation between the two bodies especially in terms of harnessing communications and technology during emergencies.
PRCS President Dr. Younis Al Khatib spoke to his guests about the Society’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, mainly through its Central Emergency Services (101 Call Center), and efforts made by staff and volunteers in this regard. A detailed presentation was given by PRCS staff on the 101 Call Center and the technology used to facilitate communications between the Society’s EMS teams and service users.
Minister Sadr underlined his Ministry’s readiness to harness its capabilities to facilitate the Society’s work in general, and the operation of the 101 Call Center in particular, given the Center’s key role in saving lives and providing emergency medical services.
PRCS and MTIT are currently discussing potential cooperation to enhance the operation of the Society’s Central Emergency Services, especially in terms of locating callers and updating maps to facilitate access to emergency service callers in the oPt.
