The Eleventh Meeting of Community Awareness Committees Takes Place at PRCS’ Headquarters

(Al-Bireh - 18/12/2019):  The eleventh annual meeting of PRCS’ Community Awareness Committees (CACs) operating in the West Bank took place at the Society’s headquarters in Al-Bireh.

Attended by the Society’s President Dr. Younis Al Khatib, PRCS’ staff and more than 700 volunteers from 70 main and subsidiary CACs in the West Bank, this largest volunteer gathering of the year was held under the banner: “volunteerism: a noble community service”. It celebrated achievements realized by CACs throughout the West Bank.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Al Khatib said: “These voluntary Committees, which also comprise women, embody generosity and are a cornerstone of our programs and activities. Since they operate within local communities, they are more capable of meeting their needs by planning for programs and solutions that are most relevant to these communities”.

During the meeting, a short film about volunteers Soulaf Abdo from Anabta and Hassan Shabita from Azzoun was projected. Both volunteers spoke about the Committees’ creation, objectives and activities as well as about the difficulties they face. A performance was also given by the “Oscar Group”, reflecting sacrifices made by PRCS’ teams.

Four CACs competed for the Best CAC Award this year. The award was finally granted to the Jericho and Al Aghwar CAC in recognition of the great community services it has rendered.
