PRCS’ Medical Conference Held in Occupied Jerusalem

(Jerusalem - 15/11/2018):  On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, PRCS organized its first ever medical conference at the Legacy Hotel in occupied Jerusalem with the participation of numerous Palestinian doctors, including prominent obstetricians and gynecologists.

In his opening address, Dr. Abdallah Sabri, Vice-President of PRCS, spoke about the creation and development of the Society as well as about the relief and medical services it has provided in Palestine and the Diaspora since its creation in 1968. He lauded the highly experienced staff at PRCS’ institutions in general and at its Emergency Medical Services in particular.

Dr. Nihad Id’eiss, the conference’s Medical Director, said the conference’s emblem, Damascus Gate, symbolizes the gateway to the Old City of Jerusalem, Al Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Sepulchre. He spoke about the large number of medical staff who trained at PRCS’ hospital and medical institutions in occupied Jerusalem and who went on to work throughout Palestine.

Dr. Ekrima Sabri, Chair of the Islamic Supreme Committee, spoke about Islamic discourse on abortion and Islamic jurisprudence regarding several gynaecological and infertility-related issues, while Dr. Mirshed Farhat, Director of Haifa Assuta Hospital, discussed medical risks and medico-legal issues relating to the gynaecological practice. Iman Nasser el Dine Abou Hijleh, Palestinian Supreme Court Justice, discussed medical errors from a legal viewpoint. Dr. Walid Al Ju’beh and Dr. Firas al Ramini, two prominent obstetricians working at PRCS’ hospital in Jerusalem, touched on developments and trends in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Several discussion sessions tackled a number of other medical and scientific topics.

It is to be noted that a number of specialists invited by PRCS to take part in the conference were denied visas by the Israelis.
