Danish Red Cross Goodwill Ambassador Torbjorn Pedersen Visits PRCS

(Al-Bireh - 17/9/2018):  Danish Red Cross Goodwill Ambassador Torbjorn Pedersen, who is currently touring the world, concluded his visit to PRCS on September 17. Pederson has already visited tens of National Societies throughout the world in a journey he is undertaking without the convenience of air travel.

Pederson was received at the Society’s HQ in Al-Bireh by its Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh and several department directors, staff and volunteers. He was briefed about PRCS, its services, programs and plans as well as the key challenges facing it.

So far, Pederson has visited Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 203 countries in North and Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe. This journey, which started five years ago and is expected to end in 2020 aims at promoting humanitarian compassion and bringing International Movement constituents closer together.

The globetrotter explained that this journey was not a vacation and that he has faced many challenges and impressive moments. He said he plans to write a book about this experience and everything that he has learned during his journey. “I am very happy to visit Palestine and PRCS for the first time. This is such a unique experience for me. I have faced many challenges during this journey but I am determined to overcome all difficulties”, he added. Pederson also commended efforts made by PRCS’ staff and volunteers despite the dire conditions prevailing in Palestine.

PRCS took its guest on a bicycle tour in Ramallah with stops at late President Arafat’s Mausoleum and at Mahmoud Darwich Museum.
