A Qatari Medical Mission Performs 20 Cochlear Implants At PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital in the Gaza Strip

(Gaza, 5/5/2018):  A Qatari medical team visiting the Gaza Strip for the fifth time performed 20 cochlear implants on children from the Gaza Strip with the participation of Palestinian anesthesiologists and surgeons from PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital.

These children shall also undergo a rehabilitation program at Gaza’s Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Artificial Limbs.

Dr. Khalid Abdul-Hadi, Head of Audiology and Balance Unit at Hamad Medical City in Qatar, explained that “several other cochlear implants have been performed in the Gaza Strip over the past months as part of this continuous collaboration between the Qatari and the Palestine Red Crescent Societies.  All those operations were successful”.

Dr. Abou’l Foul, Director of Al Quds Hospital, said that “the Hospital did its best to facilitate the work of the Qatari mission. Surgery rooms were allocated for these operations while an entire ward was assigned to patients. Moreover, a hospital clinic offers 118 children follow-up and care free-of-charge”.
