PRCS Receives Ten Ambulances Donated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society

(Gaza – 2/2/2016):  PRCS received ten ambulances donated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS). The ambulances will be distributed to the five Emergency Medical Centers run by PRCS in the Gaza Strip.

The ambulances, which arrived at Karm Abou Salem Crossing Point to the South of the Gaza Strip, were originally donated by IRCS in the aftermath of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in 2014. However, they only reached the Gaza Strip at the beginning of 2016 due to Israeli impediments which prevented their earlier delivery.

According to Dr. Bashar Mourad, Head of PRCS’ Emergency Medical Services in the Gaza Strip, each of the five Emergency Medical Centers operated by PRCS will receive two fully equipped ambulances once all registration and insurance procedures are completed and the ambulances are marked with the Society’s emblem. The ambulances will help ease pressure on Emergency Medical Services which sustained great losses and were targeted by Israel during its last attack on the Gaza Strip.

Omar Al Azayzeh, PRCS’ Administrative Director in the Gaza Strip, said these ambulances were the result of continuous coordination and cooperation with both IFRC and IRCS with a view to supporting the Palestinian Society’s Emergency Medical Services and helping them cope with emergency conditions in Palestine.
