The Society’s Branch in Khan Younis Pays Tribute to Its Volunteers

 (Gaza- 25/8/2015): In cooperation with BaniSuhaila Municipality, PRCS’ branch in Khan Younis held a ceremony in honor of its volunteers from both BaniSuhaila and Kizan who partook in various training courses organized by the branch. Held under the framework of the Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Program implemented by PRCS in Khan Younis, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohamad Al Agha, Deputy President of the branch, Mr. Jihad AbouHattab, Administrative Manager of Al Amal City, Mr. SubhiShaqlieh, Coordinator of the Disaster Mitigation Program, and Mr. Yihya Al Astal, Mayor of Khan Younis.

 

In his opening remarks, Mr. Al Ahga underlined and commended the leading role played by PRCS in the provision of services to Palestinians. He highlighted the advanced educational, training and awareness-raising courses organized by the Society as well as its efforts aimed at building community capacities. He also touched on the importance of promoting volunteerism amongst young Palestinians with a view to improving services provided to communities and to enhancing cooperation and building ties with them.

 

Mr. Hammad Al Raqab, Mayor of BaniSuhaila, commended PRCS for its active support to local community institutions aimed at providing humanitarian services to Palestinians.

 

At the end of the ceremony, First Aid kits were distributed by the branch to volunteers who took part in a number of courses on First Aid, project management, assessing the needs of marginalized groups, community-based work, disaster management, as well as first responder training courses.
