Dr. Al Khatib receives China’s Ambassador to Palestine at the Society’s Premises in Gaza City

 (Gaza City- 15/7/2015): PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib received today at the Society’s headquarters in Gaza City China’s Ambassador to Palestine Chen Xingzhong and his accompanying delegation. Also present were PRCS’ Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh, and several ward managers from PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital in the city. The visit aimed at delivering 700 tons of rice which were then distributed by the Ambassador and Dr. Al Khatib to disadvantaged and affected populations in the Gaza Strip.

 

In his welcome address, Dr. Al Khatib said PRCS was instructed by President Mahmoud Abbas to receive this shipment of food aid and to distribute it to needy populations before the Muslim feast of Eid el Fitr. Al Khatib lauded China’s continuous support which aims at building the resilience of Palestinians, especially those suffering from the inhuman blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.


Ambassador Xingzhong said he was pleased with this visit to the Gaza Strip. He underlined the strong ties between China and Palestine and affirmed that his country shall continue providing support to Palestinians.

 

He also commended efforts made by PRCS to provide health and humanitarian services to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and hoped that peace would soon prevail in the region. Ambassador Xingzhong and his accompanying delegation then toured several wards at PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital where they surveyed services provided to patients and learned about the challenges facing PRCS.

 

At the end of the visit, Dr. Al Khatib offered his guest a piece of Palestinian embroidery made by persons with disabilities working with PRCS.
