Palestine Red Crescent Society Begins Operating Al-Mawasi Field Hospital in Khan Younis

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has started operating its Al-Mawasi Field Hospital, located west of Khan Younis city, to provide emergency medical services to displaced persons amid worsening health conditions and the ongoing displacement crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The hospital is equipped with 60 beds, two operating rooms, an emergency department, a laboratory, and a radiology unit. PRCS plans to expand the hospital’s inpatient capacity in the next phase by adding four intensive care unit (ICU) beds to enhance care for critical cases.

On its first day, the hospital received a large number of patients, providing immediate medical care to dozens of cases and performing three successful surgical operations—highlighting the urgent need for such facilities in the area.

The opening of the hospital is part of PRCS’s continued efforts to strengthen health and humanitarian responses in displacement areas and to ensure displaced populations have access to essential medical services despite significant operational challenges.
